From Friends of Steve Adragna:
Dr. Steven P. “Steve” Adragna, a longtime Fairfax County resident, businessman and community activist, today announced his candidacy to represent the 42nd District in Virginia’s House of Delegates.
“Our campaign is about returning our district’s representation in the House back to the political center. We’ll focus on the issues that really matter to Virginia families and businesses,” he declared. Adragna said that his priorities include reducing taxes and allowing families to keep more of their money; enhancing Virginia’s reputation as a great place in which to start or relocate and grow a business; implementing innovative solutions to improve transportation; ensuring that schools focus on the classroom and prepare students for the 21st-century economy; and focusing more attention on issues of concern to Virginia’s veterans and military families (many of whom join our skilled workforce after retirement or start a new business here).
He added: “The recent furor over my opponent’s failed legislation underscores that her policy positions are extreme and out of touch with most Virginians.” He noted that the incumbent is one of only seven members of the 100-seat House to receive a grade of “F” from the Virginia Chamber of Commerce for 2018. Moreover, of all the bills the incumbent introduced or co-sponsored in 2019, not one fundamentally addressed jobs and the economy, taxes, workforce development, transportation, or qualitative improvement of education.
Steve has lived in Northern Virginia since 1989, and is a graduate of both Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and The Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy. He has been active in community affairs and local politics for over twenty years; spent almost 13 years as a national security professional in the federal civilian service; is an Army combat arms veteran, and a proud member of the American Legion. With experience as an executive in companies large and small, he maintains an active role in the local business community, including membership in the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce (and its Innovation & Entrepreneurship Council) and the Leadership Council of the National Small Business Association. He is a prior recipient of the West Springfield Rotary Club’s Rotarian of the Year Award, and of several awards and commendations for his service in the national security community.
Steve is the founder and managing director of a Virginia small business with a global footprint which, along with his extensive international service in government and industry, has afforded him invaluable experience in bridging divides across cultures, languages, and customs. “As the grandson of impoverished Italian immigrants to this country,” he said, “I have been blessed with opportunities that have made me truly appreciate the value of education, hard work, innovation, openness to other cultures and ideas, and the importance of working together to achieve goals that serve the greater good. I’m committed to building a true opportunity society for all the citizens of our Commonwealth.”
Steve currently resides in Fairfax Station with his wife, Constance, and daughter Catherine, who attends Silverbrook Elementary school. For more information, contact Info@SteveAdragna.US.
