John Solomon Biography. John Solomon is an award-winning investigative journalist and respected digital entrepreneur, who serves as Executive Vice President of The Hill newspaper in Washington. In the past 18 months, he has broken major investigative stories, including revelations that prompted multiple Congressional committees to interview an undercover FBI informant, who chronicled how Russia’s nuclear industry engaged in bribery while winning favorable decisions from the Obama administration.
Prior to joining The Hill, Mr. Solomon was the Chief Operating Officer of Circa.com, a news site targeting millennials. Under his direction, Circa amassed an audience of 100 million monthly users.
Before Circa, Mr. Solomon served as Editor and Vice President for Content and Business Development at The Washington Times, where he oversaw the transformation of the company’s content, audience, and revenue strategies. He is widely credited for repositioning the Times as a digital-first, platform-agnostic multimedia company.
During three decades as a professional journalist, Mr. Solomon and his teams have won dozens of awards, including two Robert F. Kennedy Excellence in Journalism Awards and three Society of Professional Journalists Awards in Investigative Reporting for his projects that exposed the FBI lab’s reliance on bogus science to wrongfully convict Americans; the VA’s efforts to use soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan as guinea pigs in drug experiments; and the Clinton family’s secret slush fund in Sweden.
Before joining the Times, Mr. Solomon worked for two decades at The Associated Press where, at age 22, he became the youngest news editor in AP’s history and rose to become the No. 2 executive in its Washington bureau. His award-winning investigative stories won wide acclaim for exposing what the U.S. Government knew about terrorism threats prior to the September 11, 2001 attacks.
After retiring from AP, Mr. Solomon spent a year as the lead national investigative reporter for The Washington Post and has also done stints as a senior editor at Newsweek/Daily Beast and the nonprofit Center for Public Integrity.
Mr. Solomon is a frequent guest contributor on Fox News, and his exclusive investigative reporting can be followed on Twitter @jsolomonReports.
