The Medicaid Expansion fight is not over.

According to news reports, on Tuesday May 29 the Senate Finance Committee may adopt a budget proposal that could be debated and potentially amended on the floor to expand Medicaid with federal money. If those federal subsidies for Medicaid are eliminated in the future, Virginia will be totally responsible for billions in Medicaid costs.

"Virginia has served as a bulwark against the expansion of Obamacare at the state level.   Although temporary funding has been approved by the federal government for most of Medicaid expansion, the funding is neither complete nor guaranteed.

The 11th Congressional District Republican Committee, in conformance with the Creed of the Republican Party of Virginia, passed the below resolution on May 7, 2018 opposing Medicaid expansion at the state level and commending our legislators standing in opposition:"

10th District Committee Resolution Against Medicaid Expansion

From The Bull Elephant, by Andrew Nicholson, Chairman of the 10th Congressional Republican Committee:

“On Tuesday night the 10th Congressional District Republican Committee unanimously passed the following resolution on the Budget and Medicaid Expansion:

Whereas, the debate over Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion in Virginia’s budget is causing unneeded uncertainty, controversy, and delays to the approval of a budget, and

Whereas, the 10th Congressional District Republican Committee opposes a shutdown of the Commonwealth of Virginia government; now, therefore be it,

Resolved, the 10th Congressional District Republican Committee supports the immediate passage of a state budget without Obamacare’s Medicaid Expansion; and

Resolved, that the Chairman of the 10th Congressional District Republican Committee shall cause copies of this resolution to be disseminated to all Republican members of the General Assembly, and to the media.
