CLIFTON, VA, May 30, 2018 – The Republican Women of Clifton (RWC) welcomes Dr. Suzanne Scholte, President, Defense Forum Foundation and Chair, North Korea Freedom Coalition to present at its June meeting. The event will take place Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station. Social time will begin at 7 pm and presentation at 7:30 pm.
Dr. Suzanne Scholte is considered one of the world’s leading activists in the North Korea human rights movement, having worked for over 18 years to promote the freedom, human rights and dignity of the North Korean people. In 1996, Scholte launched a program to host the first North Korean defectors in the US to speak out on the atrocities committed against the people of North Korea. She has led international efforts to rescue and support North Korean defectors. In addition to her roles noted above, she is the Honorary Chairman, Free North Korea Radio and is the recipient of several awards including the 2008 Seoul Peace Prize Laureate. RWC President, Tyna Gaylor notes, “Dr. Scholte’s comments on North Korea are particularly timely as the U.S. enters into diplomatic talks with this reclusive and isolated nation.”
Scholte is a graduate of the College of William and Mary, holds an Honorary Doctorate in Education from Koshin University, is married, and has three sons.
Attendees are invited to contribute items for troops at the door (for example: individual packets of sugar, creamer, Crystal Lite, candy, chips, nuts or other snacks, small games, playing cards, trial size hand lotion, face cream, lip balm, tooth brushes, toothpaste, and other fun things as well as cards expressing appreciation.)
