Springfield, Virginia, July 10, 2024. Mike Van Meter, a military veteran, and retired FBI special agent, running in Virginia’s 11th Congressional District, has recently received an endorsement from Veterans for Trump (VFAF.US). Demonstrating his commitment to fiscal responsibility and conservative values, on the morning of July 10, 2024, Van Meter will address several Congressional leaders, staffers, and members of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR) about his campaign and pledge to protect taxpayers in Fairfax, VA. This pledge will take place the same week that his opponent, Gerry Connolly, will be advocating the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to send billions more of unaccountable American tax dollars to Ukraine.
The Congressional briefing will be led by ATR President, Grover Norquist. Planned discussion includes changes to the Cook Partisan Voting Index (PVI) score in VA-11 and other campaign highlights and needs. Based on the ATR database, Mike Van Meter is the first U.S. House candidate in Fairfax County to sign the Taxpayer Protection Pledge. Van Meter’s signature is joined with other Republican Party of Virginia pledge signers to include Congresswoman Jen Kiggans and Governor Glenn Youngkin.
Following the ATR brief, Mike Van Meter will host a Press Conference to talk to supporters about his position on fiscal responsibility and highlight the failures of Gerry Connolly that began during his tenure on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. This includes a county tax hike over 15%, which Connolly’s “tax and spend” tactics have continued in Congress with his vote in favor of the 2022 Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The IRA was strongly opposed by the Central Fairfax Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.1 (Ref. enclosed Connolly Tax and Spend Plan Chart prepared by the Fairfax County Taxpayers Alliance).
Van Meter stated,
“First. I’m proud to have received the endorsement from Veterans for Trump (VFAF.US). I just recently spoke at a breakfast prior to President Trump’s rally with VFAF National Spokesperson, (Ret.) Rear Admiral Chuck Kubic. Virginia is fired up! Right now, there are over 500,000 active/registered voters in Fairfax. Of that, recent polls have shown over 250,000 Republican voters across the county and in the city. Connolly’s average votes in ’20 and ’22 were under 240,000. You do the math…Voter Confidence shouldn’t be an issue in the 11th – conservative values, ideas, and volunteer strength are ready to be mobilized by the hundreds in Fairfax with the help from organizations like American Veterans Vote and VFAF.
